Caring for one another - Busbridge Church Pastoral Care

For many years, this church has sought to ensure that people in need of help and pastoral care receive it. Sometimes that means short-term care at a time of crisis. Often it involves longer-term involvement. A great deal of this care happens informally, through house groups and individuals, which we wholeheartedly endorse and encourage. In addition, we have a team of Pastoral Assistants who have been licensed, following a diocesan training course, who provide longer term and/or more specialist support. We are also committed to a programme of regular reviews, further training and development.
By its very nature, much of the pastoral work we do is unobtrusive or confidential. However, the key to effective pastoral care is every member ministry and so we invite members of all our congregations and house groups to embrace the vision and to play their part. Caring for one another is a responsibility which we all share.
There are a number of different ways in which we seek to show Christ’s love and compassion to our neighbours, both within the church and in the wider community. Our Church Family Support Fund is one financial means of provision.
Some members are trained and qualified to help in specific ways, but we are also available to help in times of illness, accident or other trauma. Relationships, financial difficulties or loneliness can all raise issues which you may want to discuss in confidence. Please get in touch if we can help in any way.
Revd Margot Spencer, Minister Responsible for Pastoral Care
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know
that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
John 13.34-5
