"In a world where risk and suffering are everybody's problem, the needs of our neighbours are the needs of the whole human family. Let's respond just as we do when our immediate family is in need or trouble. We may be amazed by the difference we can make."

Activities & Courses at Busbridge Church

There are plenty of ways to connect with others in friendship, in fun, in study, or in prayer! Everyone is invited to join in our groups or come on our courses. Our various groups cater for different ages and interests. Some meet in the daytime and others in the evening. They are open to everyone – not just those who regard themselves as regular church-goers. The same applies to our courses. Take a look at the lists, and click to find more information.

ABC Groups

ABC Groups

These are groups for Parents/carers with their babies and toddlers up to the age of three.

Groups meet in the Church Centre on the first Wednesday of the month at 2.15pm during school terms. One session per week is run in the summer holidays. There is free play with a singing session at the end. The cost is £1.50 per session per family.

Families are encouraged to join one group. Dads, grandparents, child minders and au pairs are just as welcome as “mums”. The groups are relatively small (up to 10 adults and 15 children per session) and are friendly and welcoming of new members.

Please contact the ABC Group Coordinator to check for space at any of the groups.

We encourage all church members to belong to a House Group. These are “mini-communities” where members connect regularly in fellowship, friendship, prayer and Bible Study, and provide practical pastoral care to one another.

Men’s Breakfasts

Men’s Breakfasts

Every first Saturday (other than January) - we meet at 8am in the Centre and aim to finish by 9:45am after some informal discussion on a matter of topical interest - best described as ‘sharing and learning together’. Those who come find it a great way to start the weekend.

Wetherspoon’s (meet every Third Tuesday)

Following the success of a recent 'Tuesday is Steak Night' at Wetherspoon’s in the High Street, we have decided to make this our regular rendezvous for 2010. We meet in the seating area overlooking the car park. Just turn up any time from about 7.30 pm – there will always be two of us there to say hello. Order your own drink (and food if you want it). No agenda – purely social.

Nexus

Building a network of friendship and support between church and community

Nexus is a well established group, primarily for women, from both the church and the local community. Our main aims are:-

• To warmly welcome all who attend.
• To organise a programme of talks, demonstrations, outings and activities, spanning almost every interest!
• To support and care for one another, especially in times of need.
• To promote events and activities happening in Busbridge Church, and offer encouragement to anyone wishing to find out more about the church.

Nexus usually meets at 8 o’clock on the first Thursday in the month, in the Church Centre. In addition, we organise regular walks followed by a pub lunch, some midweek, others on a Saturday when family or friends can join us.

Our subscription fees cover running costs and enable Nexus to give money to local charities, or charities run by church members e.g. SALCET. Last year we made a record donation of £500 (including the raffle proceeds from our hugely successful Christmas Dance) to Guildford Action. Our charity this year is the Cellar, in Godalming.

For more information or a programme, please contact:
Janet Harvey on 01483 423264 or janetmharvey@btinternet.com, or

We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings!

Prime Time

Prime Time

Prime Time is a catch-all name for the mission of the church to the retired and semi-retired of the parish. Through 6 to 8 events each year Prime Time gives people the chance to meet together in a convivial atmosphere. The activities are designed to draw all through an interesting subject or activity. Most events will include a Thought for the Day with a Christian message.

Each Summer we have a Special Event over two days with activities, a tea on the first day and a lunch on the second day. In the Spring we have a special lunch with a guest speaker, while in May a Games afternoon appeals to those of a sporting nature.

In the future we are looking at putting on short day-time sessions concerned with exploring the Christain faith as well as others linked to coping with life in changing times.

For more information please contact Revd Andy Spencer at andy.spencer@busbridgechurch.org

Prayer Group

Our Prayer Group meets every month in the church building, on:

- 2nd Tuesday of the month, from 4pm to 5pm
- 3rd Saturday of the month, from 8am to 9am, then have coffee and croissants together.

Our Aims are:

- to pray for our church, our leaders, our community, and for one another,
- to listen to God,
- to feedback to the leaders what we feel God may be saying to us.

All are most welcome. Contact Catherine Roux for further information (01483 426915)

Unemployment Pub Group

Unemployment Pub Group

We started out to support one another at times between jobs, but most of us enjoy meeting in the pub once a fortnight so much that we keep on coming once we are back in work!

Wednesday Fellowship

Wednesday Fellowship

We meet on the last Wednesday of each month – attending a short service of Holy Communion in the church building, and then spending time together either in the church centre, or out on a trip.

Fee free to just turn up, or contact the church office here

WOW (Women on Wednesday)

WOW (Women on Wednesday)

WoW! is for women of all ages who are available on Wednesday mornings and who wish to explore the Bible. The group welcomes both women who are new to Bible study and those who have extensive knowledge of the Bible. We begin each meeting with coffee and chat – getting to know one another is important to us. We then have a study session, led by one of Busbridge Church’s team of leaders and teachers, where we explore the Bible together and learn from each other.

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month during school term times.
